The Border Art Prize supports the endeavours of artists living and working in the the Tweed and surrounding shires. Open to all media and subject matter, the Prize attracts a wide variety of styles from both well-known and emerging artists, reflecting the region's lively artistic community. Artworks may be in any media, genre and style, as long as they satisfy size, weight and display restrictions./

From 2000-2016 the Border Art Prize was run as a joint initiative with Gold Coast City Gallery and welcomed entries from artists from the Tweed Shire, Gold Coast City and surrounding shires. In 2017 Gold Coast City Gallery withdrew from the Prize to concentrate on building their new cultural precinct. The Prize continues to be held at Tweed Regional Gallery every second year and invites entries from artists living within the Tweed Shire, Gold Coast City, Ballina, Byron and Kyogle Shires and Lismore City Council areas.
