Textile talent on display at Gallery

Tamworth Textile Triennial exhibition Tension(s) 2020 opens

Thursday 4 March, 2021

The talents of some of Australia's most accomplished textile artists have been brought together for a new exhibition at Tweed Regional Gallery & Margaret Olley Art Centre - Tension(s) 2020: Tamworth Textile Triennial.

The Tamworth Textile Triennial showcases the best of textile art from across the country, attracting artist participation from all states in Australia.

The exhibition curated by Vic McEwan opens at the Gallery on Friday 5 March 2021.

"This year's triennial features more than 20 artworks from some of the most exciting artists working in textile across the country, showcasing the changing nature and progress of textile practice from a national perspective," Tweed Regional Gallery Director Susi Muddiman OAM said.

Tension(s) 2020 acknowledges that the world has been a place under various tensions, both harmonious and dissonant. In order to bear witness to, contribute and respond to these tensions, the triennial focuses on the future of people and places through textile.

Tension(s) 2020: Tamworth Textile Triennial is on exhibition until Sunday 2 May 2021. The exhibition is touring from Tamworth Regional Gallery and is supported by the Australian Government's Visions of Australia program.

On Friday 30 April, 5.30-7pm, visitors are invited to join guest curator and exhibiting artist Vic McEwan to gain insights into the Tension(s) 2020 exhibition. The event is free, however bookings are required: https://tensions2020floortalk.eventbrite.com.au
