Background

The Tweed Regional Gallery aims to promote a greater understanding and enjoyment of the visual arts in the community and to acquire, preserve, display and conserve the region’s visual arts heritage.

The objective of the Gallery’s Exhibition Program is:
  • to provide access to exhibitions of regional and national significance;
  • enable the Gallery to exhibit high quality exhibitions that extend the audiences’ understanding and appreciation of the visual arts and related fields;
  • curate a range of stimulating exhibitions from the Gallery’s growing collection of works by Australian artists;
  • enable exhibitions of an educational and museological nature, and of importance in visual arts and related fields;
  • include a balance of male and female, local, interstate and international artists; and
  • enable the Gallery to present an exhibition program that includes a wide range of topics/media within a 36 month period including (but not limited to) the following: art prizes, ceramics, contemporary craft, design, drawing, education, fashion, fibre, glass, jewellery, museological interest, new media, painting, photography, printmaking, regional / topical relevance and sculpture; and
  • deliver an innovative exhibition program.
