Daily tours

The Gallery offers daily guided tours of current exhibitions for our visitors. The tours are hosted by our trained Volunteer Gallery Guides commencing at 11.30am, Wednesdays to Sundays (except public holidays). The tours last approximately 45 - 60 minutes and provide an overview of the Gallery and the exhibitions on display, including the Margaret Olley Art Centre.

To join the free tour, meet the Gallery Guide in the Foyer before 11.30am. Bookings are not necessary unless you are a small group (10 or under) wishing to join the tour.

Group bookings and planning your visit

Bookings are essential for all group visits and tours. For further information or to discuss a proposed booking, please contact the Gallery on (02) 6670 2790 or email

To let us know of your visit and to ensure that it is a valuable and enjoyable experience, please complete a Booking Request Form (see link in Bookings section below) and email to the Gallery at least three weeks prior. Your visit can be self-guided or if you are a group of over 10 people you can request a guided tour or talk by our Volunteer Guides for either 10.30am or 1.30pm (NSW DST).

The Gallery is open to the public Wednesday to Sunday, closed Christmas Day and Good Friday.

Special tours for groups

We also offer tours for children, adults, school, community, interest groups or groups with special requirements upon request. Please fill in a Booking Request Form and make sure you add three (3) preference dates, your time of arrival, numbers, whether your group will be self- guided or would like to book a tour for 10.30am or 1.30pm. Carefully read page 2 on the Booking Request Form as there is some important information that will help you plan your visit. At least three weeks’ minimum notice is required to book a special tour.

Groups that include people living with dementia are encouraged to book to visit the Gallery. Our MemoryScape program provides opportunities for people with dementia, their families and carers to access the arts in a safe and supportive environment. A self-guided tour sheet introducing key artworks with suggested questions to ignite conversation and memories is available. Please email for more information.

In conjunction with Tweed Regional Museum, we are pleased to offer Auslan-interpreted tours for deaf and hearing impaired visitors on the following date in 2018:

Commercial Bus Companies Day Tours

Tweed Shire Council has introduced a rate charge of $62.00 for all commercial bus companies booking a Day Tour to visit the Tweed Regional Gallery & Margaret Olley Art Centre. (This fee doesn’t apply for individual groups that charter your services.)

The Commercial Group Booking Service Fee does not include the provision of Tour Guides. This service, if requested, is charged at an additional minimal cost of $2.00 per person.

Commercial coach tours may also want to consider visiting the newly renovated Tweed Regional Museum (TRM) in Murwillumbah. Tour companies should contact the Museum directly to book a visit. The Tweed Regional Gallery & Margaret Olley Art Centre is a valuable education resource for all levels of learning, from kindergarten to tertiary level. The Gallery is committed to providing students and educators with an engaging, relevant and meaningful experience. The Gallery’s significant collection of artworks ranges from historical to contemporary work and includes portraiture, works on paper and works by regional artists. The purpose-built Margaret Olley Art Centre showcases a re-creation of Margaret Olley’s home studio. The Gallery also offers a vibrant program of temporary exhibitions throughout the year to complement cross-curriculum areas.

Prior to your visit:

Please contact the Gallery to discuss your school’s visit and booking. To gain the maximum benefit from your visit, we suggest teachers visit the Gallery in advance to view the relevant exhibition/s.

Your visit can be self-guided or if you are a school group of over 10 students you can request a guided tour or talk by a Volunteer Guide. The Gallery’s Education and Audience Development Officer can also give your group a 10 minute introduction on arrival if available. Your visit can be tailored to meet the needs of individual schools in regard to length, level and content.
