Learning resource with school kids

The Gallery offers a number of education resources that are available to teachers, students or self guided groups. This includes free printable Education Kits and activities for selected touring and Gallery-initiated exhibitions.

These resources are a great way of preparing students and may also include preparatory notes, Gallery activities, follow up activities and suggestions for further research.

Contact the Gallery’s Education and Audience Development Officer by email at GalleryEducation@tweed.nsw.gov.au or by phone on 02 6670 2712.

Monet in Murwillumbah - First Impressions

Impressionists were masters of colour and used complementary colours in their paintings. Complementary colours are opposite each other on a colour wheel and seem to vibrate or pop when placed side by side.

  • Red and green
  • Violet and yellow
  • Blue and orange

The following downloadable PDF activity invites young people to build their own haystack while exploring and playing with complementary colours.
